The song is a mix of reggaeton and pop music was released in 2017 by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee. The song has become the most streamed track at that time within 6 months. In 2015 there were only two mostly songs with Spanish lyrics on the Billboard Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity, however 19 mostly Spanish songs made it into the Top 100 In 2020, there were 41 such songs. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 as a bilingual rendition. Then, various artists collaborated with Reggaeton stars including Drake and Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma and Medellin 2019 A few performers of reggaeton lamented the trend towards mainstream music in 2020. However, a brand newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the growth and evolution of reggaeton. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, and other styles was a common procedure.
